Please read below to understand more about essential oils. A detailed account of essential oil is given here.
Essential oils are the concentrated extracts of potentially beneficial plants, such as Tulsi and peppermint. These extracts will contain many therapeutic components which can be used for common ailments such as colds and body aches. Some Essential oils are also known to be mood enhancers and energy boosters. When used responsibly, one can get immense benefits out of essential oils.
Essential oil is very concentrated to be applied directly to the skin. They need to be diluted with a good carrier oil (e.g., almond oil or coconut oil) and then use for massage or at the affected part of the body. One can use the essential oils in the bath as well or mixing in shampoos, soaps, or body wash.
A general guideline on the dilution ratio is given in our blog here.
The most common method of using essential oil is to inhale directly or via steam inhalation.
Ingestion of essential oils should be strictly avoided. Essential oils are way too concentrated and can have adverse effects when ingested directly. Oral intake of essential oils should be done in a clinical setting with a professional practitioner overseeing the entire process.
Warning: Oral intake of essential oils should be strictly under the guidance of your health advisor or doctor.
