Organic Coconut Oil 500ml — Cold Pressed from Fresh Coconuts

Dhatu Organics Organic Coconut Oil is cold pressed from fresh, organically farmed coconuts — not copra (dried coconut). Cold pressing at low temperatures preserves the natural Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs), lauric acid, and the delicate coconut aroma that is destroyed in refined or copra-based oils. This is a pure, single-ingredient oil — nothing added, nothing removed.

Why MCTs & Lauric Acid Matter

  • Rich in MCTs — Medium Chain Triglycerides are rapidly metabolised for energy and support brain function.
  • Lauric Acid (47%) — Converts to monolaurin in the body; known for antimicrobial and immune-supportive properties.
  • High Smoke Point (~177°C) — More stable for cooking than most cold pressed oils.
  • Stays solid below 24°C — Natural solidification is normal; gently warm to liquefy.
  • Certified Organic — Grown without synthetic inputs.

How to Use

  • Cooking: Excellent for stir-frying, sautéing, and baking. Adds a light coconut flavour.
  • Bulletproof coffee / smoothies: Add 1 tsp for an MCT energy boost.
  • Skin moisturiser: Apply directly for deep, long-lasting hydration.
  • Hair oil: Traditional use for scalp nourishment and reducing frizz.
  • Oil pulling: Swish 1 tbsp for 10–15 minutes for oral health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why has my coconut oil turned solid?

Coconut oil naturally solidifies below 24°C. This is completely normal and a sign of a genuine, unrefined product. Simply place the jar in warm water for a few minutes or scoop out the amount needed — it liquefies quickly. Solidification and melting cycles do not affect quality.

What is the difference between coconut oil and extra virgin coconut oil?

Both are cold pressed, but extra virgin coconut oil is made from fresh coconut milk (wet-milling), preserving more delicate volatile compounds and a more pronounced fresh coconut aroma. Regular cold pressed coconut oil may use fresh or lightly dried coconut flesh. Both are high quality and nutritionally similar.

Is coconut oil good for weight loss?

Coconut oil's MCTs are metabolised differently from long-chain fats — they go directly to the liver and can be used as fuel rather than stored as fat. Some research supports MCTs for appetite management and energy, but coconut oil is calorie-dense (862 kcal/100g). It should be part of a balanced diet, not a magic solution.

Can I use this for deep frying?

Yes. With a smoke point of around 177°C, cold pressed coconut oil is suitable for most cooking including deep frying. It is one of the most heat-stable oils due to its high saturated fat content, which resists oxidation at high temperatures.

Is this oil good for babies?

Coconut oil has been used for centuries in infant care across South and Southeast Asia — for skin massage, cradle cap, and dry skin. It is gentle, antimicrobial, and hypoallergenic. However, for dietary use in very young infants, consult your paediatrician first.
